The wait is over! My January Boxycharm has arrived and I've got some feelings about it. Some of them good and some of them. . .well, not so much. Read more to find out the real thing lives up to the spoiler or if my assumptions were off base! With a total box worth of $144 dollars, Boxycharm did not disappoint in the value department. With a price point of $21/month, Boxycharm includes mid to high end, full size items in every box. In comparison to other boxes in it's price point - there is absolutely no better value. I have never received a box that didn't have a total value over $100. With an MSRP of $38, I got the Dr. Brandt Luminizer Primer. When I first saw the color of this primer I was a little worried. It seemed very pink for someone with a darker complexion - but it goes on sheer. I was also really happy with the way that it applied and it's finish. It is silky smooth and matte, which makes for great foundation application. I am very happy with this product. It isn't too shiny and it doesnt make my pores look huge like i had worried initially in the spoilier review. I gave this another try, even though I hated the one I bought last year, and... the Brow Power Universal Eyebrow Pencil still sucks butt. With an MSRP of $24, this pencil leaves so much to be desired. It goes on way too dark making it universal for just about no one. It also looks like crayon because it's so oily, which drives me insane. Additionally, the shape of the pencil tip makes zero sense. It doesn't create a clean line and it's too fat to be precise. I'm not happy with it at all. If someone reading this likes this pencil, explain to me why so I don't have a totally negative opinion of this product. I like It Cosmetics, but not this pencil. It is a miss for me. Well, I am totally shook by the Crown 9 Color Glam Metals Eyeshadow Palette. With a MSRP of $25, this palette is worth each and every penny. All of their claims about this shadow has been true. These metallic shades are very blendable and allowed me to create the perfect smokey look in about 6 minutes. As you can see in the swatches, the colors are all very pigmented and bold. They were very creamy when I applied them as well, so no need to wet your brush before applying. It is also the first time I have been able to create an entire cohesive look with a metallic palette. In the photo below I used The colors Rock On and Pop Rock on my lid and brow bone. In my crease, I used The Wicked and Wild Thing. I will be posting a short tutorial video on this look soon! With an MSRP of $34, the Pur Bronze and Brighten Palette is very pigmented - maybe too pigmented. The blush and bronzer went on a bit severe, and I had to blend it out for a long time. The Highlighter is also intense, but I really like it. It's blinding. Sometimes you have a product that you only hit pan on one item and just to throw the rest out. This is one of them. Not totally disappointed like I thought I would be, so this is a win. This color is way too light for me and Boxycharm is a repeat offender in this department. They don't really personalize the boxes too much so I end up with a lot of white girl stuff. I have a lot of friends that will probably like this, but it did not work for me. It's a shame too, because the formula of the Girlactik Beauty Matte Lip Paint really is quick drying without dryness or flaking. At an MSRP of $23, it is a bit pricey, but if the color works for you, it seems worth it. The formula is so nice that I may try it for some ombre lip looks. My thoughts overall are much more positive than they were for the spoiler. The only thing I am completely disappointed with is the eyebrow pencil, because it sucks. Everything else is pretty great. The big winner in this box is the The Crown 9 Color Glam Metals Eyeshadow Palette. If the box had shown up and this was the only thing in it, I would still be happy. This is one of the best things I have ever received in Boxycharm. Hopefully it will kick off an awesome 2018 of more Boxycharm boxes to come!
