5/8/2018 0 Comments MAY 2018 BOXYCHARM SPOILERSMy May 2018 Boxycharm is on the way and I am excited by the spoilers revealed this week. I have mixed emotions about some of the brands revealed in the spoilers, but we will see. There are a few variants that haven't been released yet, but this is a pretty good overview of what you can expect in your Boxycharm. Read more to find out the details of this month's box! Boxycharm is a beauty subscription service that sends a box of beauty items worth over $100.00, for only $21.00 a month. Each box contains 4 to 5 full-sized beauty products from well-known, popular, chic, and up-and-coming brands. Boxycharm only sends out full size products, and each box always has a great value. Cover FX Blurring primer - $38.00First up is a Blurring Primer from Cover FX. I've always had mixed feelings about Cover FX. It seems like their products are just fine. They aren't terrible, they aren't spectacular. They always end up being a backup when I run out of my real stuff. I'm always excited to receive a blurring primer, however, because my pores are YUGE! Cover FX describes this primer as perfect to blur, smooth and diffuse. This silky smooth primer is said to instantly minimize the look of pores, fine lines, and unwanted texture for a flawlessly smooth complexion. They suggest using it under makeup to create a smooth canvas for a seamless foundation application, over makeup as an instant retouching balm, or wearing alone for a soft focus airbrushed effect. Also, this clinically tested and vegan product does not contain the Inflammatory Five: gluten, mineral oil, fragrance, parabens or talc. Pretty Vulgar The Ink Gel Eyeliner - $24.00Our next spoiler is The Ink Gel Eyeliner by Pretty Vulgar. I have mixed feelings about gel eyeliner. It seems like an unnecessary pain in the ass when things like liquid liner exist. They're also always either way too dry or way too oily. I usually like pretty vulgar products so this could surprise me. Pretty Vulgar describes The Ink gel eyeliner as a highly pigmented, quick-drying, water-resistant liner that allows you to achieve precise, long-wearing, transfer-proof, and smudge-proof eyeliner looks. Enriched with Linoleic Acid and Linolenic Acid to condition the lid, they claim that their eyeliner has a luxuriously smooth, creamy formula that glides on easily. AESTHETICA PRO BRUSH SERIES: 3-PIECE EYELINER, BROW & SPOOLIE BRUSH SET - $45.00Presumably to go with the eyeliner, the Aesthetica Pro Brush Series 3 Piece Eyeliner, Brow and Spoolie Brush Set looks very nice. I love how Boxycharm always tries to make sure we have the tools to use the items in our box. They remember that not everyone is an MUA and may be trying some things for the first time. They also have the perfect balance of giving us quality brushes that even an expert would love. The Aesthetica Pro Series 3-Piece Eye and Brow Brush Set is self described as the highest quality, synthetic brushes for flawless brow and eyeliner makeup application. This set includes one angled eyeliner and eyebrow brush, one fine tipped eyeliner brush and one full length spoolie brush. They claim the synthetic bristles are the perfect balance between soft and stiff and tapered to an angle, for stunningly smooth strokes. They also tout that the included fine tipped eyeliner brush versatile and easy to use, and ideal for flawless wings, tight-lining and applying product along the waterline. All three brushes are also suitable for wet and dry use with liquid, gel, cream or powder makeup products. AESTHETICA PRO BRUSH SERIES: PROFESSIONAL POWDER MAKEUP BRUSH #P12 - $27.00Our next likely item is the Aesthetica Pro Brush Series Professional Powder Makeup Brush #P12. It looks like this is included to use with the contour palette we will be receiving. I will personally likely use it for setting powder and baking. It looks like a very high quality brush so I am very excited to see it in person. Aesthetica boasts that this brush is weighted with reinforced steel rods for maximum control and the highly versatile tapered oval shape helps expertly apply any loose or compact powders, including foundation and bronzer. It is also described as perfect for blending products directly on your skin while contouring or baking makeup. The brush hairs themselves are loosely bundled for great coverage and major payoff and evenly sweeps across your face for a seamless application every time. PUR Sculptor Highlight & Contour Palette - $30.00Our next spoilier is the Pur Sculptor Highlight and Contour Palette. Now, ya'll know that I am very hit or miss on Pur cosmetics, but this looks very pretty. I love the shades, but is it just me, or does the dark brown look a little patchy? We will see when it comes in - but I have high hopes! Pur describes this as a vegan Highlight & Contour Palette with 4 exclusive, blendable, silky smooth highlighter and bronze powders that are universally flattering. They suggest to highlight and define to your desired level of radiance with 2 light-catching highlighters and 2 richly pigmented bronzer powders that equally illuminate and sculpt for flattering, lit-from-within looks that range from subtle to transformative. Sounds good to me! Han Raspberry Chardonnay |
Possible variant | I don't want either of these next two items. The Han Rasberry Chardonnay Lip Gloss is not a flattering color. I don't think it looks good on any of the models above and most certainly will not look good on me. The possible variant, the Beauty Creations Long Wear Matte Lip Gloss is a matter of principle for me. I could get Beauty Creations products for super cheap at TJ Maxx or Burlington. I think this brand is WAY below normal Boxycharm standards and I am not happy about it. I suppose I would prefer to get the Han lip gloss, I guess, just to see what this company is all about. I have never heard of it before so maybe they will surprise me and it will look better in person. |
With a total value of $179, this month's Boxycharm looks awesome. I am excited for everything but the lip products, which is pretty average for me. Unless everything is grossly misrepresented on their company websites, I expect to be very happy with this box.
