Ever get really excited or disappointed by a spoiler for your subscription box only to have the opposite reaction when it arrives? My February Ipsy has arrived and I've got a lot to say about it! Read more to find out if it lived up to the hype! Also, make sure you check out Part 1 of this blog to read my reaction to the spoilers! Ipsy is a monthly subscription service that is $10 per month and provides subscribers with a makeup bag of five cosmetic samples. These products include skincare items, perfumes, nail and skin products and makeup. February 2018 Ipsy |
The first item in my bag is the Trust Fund Beauty Nail polish in Wine O'Clock. Unfortunately, I am very disappointed in this nail polish. I tried to use it twice. The first time it took way too many coats and wouldn't dry. The second time, I decided to directly compare it to the Pretty Woman Nail Polish in Wine with Ice, Garcon. I used some restraint, using only 3 coats even though the Trust Fund Polish was still a bit streaky. The Pretty Woman Nail Polish covered much better. I completely forgot to put topcoat on, but after one day the Trust Fund polish chipped really bad. I usually like Trust Fund Beauty Nail Polish, so this is truly disappointing. The Pretty Woman Nail Polish I received in my October Ipsy is way better. |
Luxie Beauty Shading and blending brush #249
$24.00
Up next is the Luxie Beauty Shading and Blending Brush #249. I love Luxie Beauty brushes because they always do what they say they are going to do. I've had a lot of contour and blending brushes that end up being terrible, but this has never been the case with Luxie.
This brush is awesome because it has the essentials: one side for blending and one side for packing. Luxie also makes the softest synthetic brushes around, making for beautiful eye looks blended to perfection. I haven't tried this yet, but since I own and frequently use the #205 Tapered Blending Eye Brush and the #239 Precision Shader, I have no doubt that this will not disappoint!

Ofra Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick in ipsy UnzippeD
Full Size $20.00
Next up is the Ofra Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick in Ipsy Unzipped. What makes Ofra Liquid Lipstick so great? They are creamy and soft in texture, which helps moisturize the lips while creating a long lasting effect. Also, there is no need for lip liner due to the sharp edge this liquid lipstick provides. All shades contain antioxidants and Vitamin E, while maintaining a lightweight feel that lasts all day through eating and drinking.
While the formula is great, the limited edition berry shade created by Ipsy and Ofra, isn't quite right for my skin tone. The swatch came out beautiful and I think this is a very quality product that will work out great for someone who looks good in this shade. I am a little let down that I won't be able to use this personally, but it will make a great gift for someone else.
Jersey Shore Cosmetics APple Harvest Moisture Rich Hydrating Balm
$10.00
Also featured in this month's bag is the Jersey Shore Cosmetics Apple Harvest Moisture Rich Hydrating Balm. I must say, I love this balm. It applies silky and smooth with a subtle, yet delicious, apple flavor. I have only tried this on my lips, but Jersey Shore Cosmetics claims it also may be used on all parts of the body, including: chapped lips, cheeks, fingers, and noses. Their products are also petroleum, gluten and paraben-free while being 100% natural! This is a fantastic product and I can't wait to use it again.
Pacifica Beauty Beach Crystals Mini Palette
Full Size $18.00
The final item in my bag is the Pacifica Beach Crystals Mini Palette. As you can see in my swatch below, this is a fairly pigmented palette for Pacifica. The colors are beautiful, but some of them may be more suited to someone with lighter skin. Even though Pacifica eye shadows can lack pigment for someone with my skin tone or darker, they are committed to producing a 100% Vegan, Cruelty-Free Product.
Regardless, I am going to try it out for a Subscription Box Hits and Misses post. I'm not confident I will be able to create a full look with this palette alone, but I will give it my best try!
Overall, I think this month's Ipsy was great! The variety and quality of my item's this month were fantastic. My only true disappointment is the nail polish. This spoiler definitely did this bag justice.
So far, Ipsy is killing it this year, I am especially impressed with their focus on cruelty free items. I have said it before, and I will say it again: Ipsy is the best $10 cosmetic subscription box. Period. With an estimated value of around $78 dollars (due to the sample size of the eyeshadow palette) - the value speaks for itself.
